Never Procrastinate Again
Do you always find yourself putting off what you are supposed to do until the deadline is so close? If you often procrastinate in the hope that you will find time to do things ‘later’ then chances are, you get frustrated when you realize that you are running out of time, yet you still have a lot of things to do. You can change that and learn how to never procrastinate again; using these 5 tips:
1. Create an organized list:
The first step towards stopping procrastination is coming up with an organized list to help you identify what you are supposed to do, and when to do them. You can then use it as a reference point and purpose to do what you have written on your list. Remember to prioritize activities according to urgency. You can also make a list that starts with the easiest tasks to complete, so that you accomplish several things as you move towards the relatively difficult activities.
2. Remind yourself of what you will achieve when you have done it:
Think about the many reasons why you need to start doing your task. What are some of the reasons why doing it will make you feel better? What are the expected outcomes? Concentrate on them and use them as a motivation to keep moving. When you are done, you will not only feel proud of yourself, but you will get a sense of satisfaction for completing the task.
3. Get rid of your distractions:
There could be a reason why you keep getting distracted from finishing your work. Maybe it is the social networks that derail you, or watching too much Tv at the expense of other activities. It could even be your friends. Do some self analysis and ask yourself if there is anything you need to eliminate in order for you to work effectively. It may require a lot of self discipline and sacrifice, but it is worth it.
4. Break things down to manageable portions:
When you look at the task you are supposed to do in wholesome, then it may seem very difficult and time consuming. However, the moment you will break it down into manageable portions, then it will be easier to handle, and you will feel more motivated.
5. Accept that things cannot be perfect:
Are you waiting for the perfect time to start working on a particular activity? Do you want to have the perfect environment before you start? Well, that could be the reason why you never get to do much. The search for perfection will only interfere with your progress. So, accept that things cannot be perfect and work with what you have, while giving it your best.
Once you find ways of dealing with procrastination, you will be able to get a lot of things done within a short time. Additionally, you will be able to grow and become a better person.
